Joined our church's dance ministry last night. It was at a small dance studio in Shangri-La Plaza. It was pretty cool. There were about a dozen or more of us. Jungee Marcelo was the one teaching us hiphop dance choreography. I really enjoyed it!

Most people don't really see me as the dancing type. Honestly I look more like the geeky gumshoe with two left feet rather than Fred Astaire. But I'm finding that I really like to dance. Ok, I really started just this year, attending aerobic dancing classes at the gym. It's a mix of hiphop, latin dance, and stretching exercises. Latin's sexy, but hiphop is fun and cool. I got hooked and I kept coming back. Later on, they offered another class called cardio funk. It's purely hiphop and there's some serious choreography involved. I loved it!

You know there's a movie coming out called "Shall We Dance?" played by Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez. My dad got a bootleg DVD copy and I watched it. I really feel for Richard Gere's character there. He's like this big time lawyer, straight tie, no nonsense kind of guy, and he somehow ends up taking dance classes at a rundown apartment studio. I don't want to give away much of the movie, but all I wanna say is that I connect with that movie in more ways than one. I really want to watch it once it comes out on the big screen, hopefully with someone I have in mind...

...In any case, I'll still keep dancing. :)

Today was the first day of school for the second semester at the seminary. Looks like a good semester! I have two classes, one in the morning and another in the afternoon. Morning class started off slow, but my first impressions of the teacher was pretty good. I thought he might be one of those bookish theology teachers, but after he cracked his first joke, I knew this class would be great!

We were told to introduce ourselves, say what college we went to and what discipline we took so that he could have a working idea of what backgrounds we would be coming from. As an added bonus, he wanted us to tell something about ourselves that most people didn't know. When my turn came, I told the class that I liked to dance. A lot of heads turned. Those that knew me from before looked at me as if to say, "Si Mark ba 'yan?" (Is that Mark?). That was fun...

Now for the joke I was talking about, there was this other student who introduced himself and built up his introduction pretty well. When it came to revealing his secret, he just mentioned something about him being a pastor's kid. Personally I was thinking he would say something more interesting, but apparently not. I felt like he just fumbled up the delivery of his punchline. And then suddenly in front of the whole class the teacher blurted out, "Walang ka-kwenta-kwenta naman yang secret na yan!" (That's such a pathetic secret!), which I think was pretty much on the mind of every one else in the room! The whole class burst out laughing! This teacher is such a joker.

The afternoon class is pretty ok since I know the professor and her brand of teaching. What was exceptional was the number of students in the room. Normally we would have around 25 in a class. This one was over 50! It got steamy inside the room and I swear, I probably nodded off more than a dozen times during that class.

But probably the highlight of the day was during the lunchbreak. After lunch, I was thinking of heading over to the library to read the newspapers or to nap a bit, but I came across several buddies, and among them was this guy named Jesse. I didn't know Jesse, but he was playing the guitar, and man! This guy plays pretty well! He says he used to be lead guitar of a local rock band, and I don't doubt it. As one friend commented, "Grabe, parang gagamba mga daliri nito!" ("This guy's fingers are like spider legs!") We spent the lunchbreak singing songs by request: Guns and Roses, Parokya, Side A, True Faith. It was fantastic. It was like we were in some kind of bar or jazz lounge. One guy even came up to us and joked, saying, "Sir, pwede bang kunin ko na order nyo? Baka gusto niyo ng mani tsaka San Mig?" ("Sir, can I take your order? Would you like some peanuts and beer?") That was really fun. I enjoyed my first day in school. I hope Jesse comes back next Tuesday... and hopefully bring along his guitar and a couple of Song Hits.

Suddenly had a craving for grapes... which is pretty good since there's a basketful of it inside our fridge. Yummy...

Got a text today from my crush! Happy happy joy joy...

...Hmmmm, there's also a basket of chestnuts here... grapes and chestnuts? cool.

...Is there a proper way of eating chestnuts? I can't seem to get the nut out of its shell without breaking it into pieces. Tastes good though...

Ako ang hari ng sablay!

It's a tuesday today, but it sure feels like a monday. It's 1:30pm and i'm deciding whether to register for my much anticipated 5K run or to enroll for my second semester classes. I opted to enrol instead, only to find out that registration wouldn't begin until Thursday. Slumped back into the office and did more paper work, then decided that I still had time to register for the 5K run. A funny thing happened as I headed to the registration area. Where I thought I would find a throng of applicants was but an empty space. I asked the lady nearby what happened to the registration, and she said that they ran out of jerseys and decided to pack up.

Dumbstruck, I went to my gym and headed straight to the men's room. Sitting on the toilet, I mulled over the day's odd happenings and thought about how the person in the next stall would think about the steady thud he would be hearing on the wall to his left as I banged my forehead on the wall's opposite side. But I guess the day wasn't so bad. I met a great friend as I went over to the seminary to enrol. I got my first sem grades and they were really good. I even met my crush today and got to talk to her. So it's probably not such a "sablay" day after all... All I gotta do is roll with the punches...

... But that was before I found out that I ran out of tissue paper.

Wala eh... Hari talaga!
